Uasin Gishu Governor Dr Jonathan Bii on Wednesday morning chaired a meeting with the City staff at the City Social Hall.
In his address,the Governor commended the efforts made by the staff in pushing for the elevation of the Municipality to be a City.
” Your contributions to have Eldoret elevated is recognised,the elevation comes with so many advantages to the people of Uasin Gishu,” said the Governor.
“We now need to make it more cleaner and secure so that we can be ranked among the best Cities in the World,not only in Kenya,this will attract more investors and more opportunities to our people ” added the Governor.
” We thank the Governor for joining our street cleaners in the streets and in the Dumpsite to see the work this people go through to make our City clean,indeed you are Gavana wa Raia” Said Julias Kitur,The City Chairman
” Eldoret City has a rapid population growth due to the global trend of Urban Migration,most people move to Urban Areas for various reasons. This calls for increased resources to meet the increasing need for the people” Said the City Manager,Tito Koiyet.
The meeting comes weeks after the elevation of Eldoret to City Status, with main objective of realigning the services to match the City needs.
Present during the meeting were Mary Kerich,(CO Environment), Nicholas Chepkwony(The Chief of Staff),Moses Rutto(Director Administration)among other City staff.
