The City of Eldoret is taking decisive action to enhance its absorption rates, a move set to unlock transformative opportunities for urban development.

Acting City Manager Julius Koech, in a meeting with section heads on Wednesday, called for a collective effort to address absorption challenges and pave the way for impactful utilization of resources.

“Our current absorption levels are far from satisfactory,” Koech stated.

“Improving this is not just a necessity—it’s an opportunity to deliver tangible results for the people of Eldoret. Together, we can make this happen by working as a unified team.”

City Board Chairman Julius Kitur highlighted the importance of proactive planning, urging section heads to finalize all necessary documentation and preparations for board approval.

“Let us ensure that everything required is ready for the next board meeting so that we can deliberate and ratify decisions promptly,” Kitur said, emphasizing the urgency of timely approvals to secure the funding.

KUSP2 Coordinator Planner Jacktone Kiprop added to the optimism with an update on the city’s performance in the recent World Bank assessment. Eldoret scored an impressive 38 out of 40 in compliance of the minimum conditions and performance standards, a key factor in determining eligibility for funding.

“This score is a testament to the city’s commitment to excellence,” Kiprop noted. “It positions us as strong contenders for the upcoming funding and reflects the dedication of our team.”

The meeting, attended by all section heads, served as a rallying call for the city’s leadership to enhance synergy and accountability.
