In a pivotal move following the recent cabinet reshuffle in Uasin Gishu, Mr. Edward Sawe has officially taken the reins as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for the Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development. His appointment was celebrated with a welcoming ceremony, where Mr. Sawe was warmly welcomed by the City Board Chair, Chief Officers, Directors, and staff members of the department and the city. The team expressed optimism and confidence in his leadership, anticipating a positive transformation under his guidance.

Mr. Sawe brings a wealth of experience in public service from his previous role at the Department of Agriculture. His appointment is seen as a fresh opportunity to rejuvenate the department and bring new vigour to its operations. During his speech at the handover ceremony, Mr. Sawe emphasized the pivotal role that the Department of Lands plays within the county government, especially in providing the land resources essential for advancing development projects across various sectors.

“I am happy to be part and parcel of this team. I expect comprehensive reports from each sector in line with the Governor’s manifesto, with the department playing a central role in the realization of Nguzo Number 8. Land is a resource that serves as the foundation for building a future and enabling us to thrive. I am aware of the challenges, but I am confident we will overcome them together,” Mr. Sawe stated. He further pointed out the importance of urban planning in tackling the increasing congestion in the county, emphasizing that the future is urban, and effective planning is necessary to meet the growing demands of a rapidly urbanizing population.
